Onchain analyst @ai_9684xtpa has identified wallets linked to a16z crypto as the sixth-largest holders of HYPE — and potentially the biggest external holder outside Hyperliquid-linked addresses. The wallets are estimated to have accumulated 9.18 million HYPE since August 2025, deploying roughly $356 million at an average cost of $38.77 per token.

In 2026 alone, the wallets added approximately 4.92 million HYPE worth around $183 million, suggesting the position is still being actively built rather than held static. Unrealized gains currently sit at approximately $79.29 million.

For the HYPE ecosystem, a16z's scale of accumulation carries weight beyond the dollar figure — it signals that one of crypto's most influential venture firms has taken a concentrated, long-duration bet on Hyperliquid's native token, a read the broader market tends to treat as a structural endorsement.
