The Ethereum Foundation is stepping up as the infrastructure backbone for Clear Signing, hosting a registry for transaction descriptors and contract metadata alongside tooling libraries designed to accelerate adoption across wallets and developer ecosystems. Clear Signing translates the raw hex gibberish users currently approve into plain-language descriptions of what a transaction actually does.

Blind signing — approving transactions without understanding their content — has been a persistent attack vector in crypto, enabling phishing exploits and malicious contract approvals that have cost users billions. By hosting the registry and tooling centrally, the EF is lowering the barrier for wallet teams to implement the standard and for developers to ship compatible contracts.
