Analyst Tom Wan has flagged a significant cross-chain infrastructure shift: protocols representing roughly $2 billion in combined TVL are migrating away from LayerZero to Chainlink's CCIP. KelpDAO ($1.5B), SolvProtocol ($600M), and re ($200M) are all in motion — a vote of no confidence that follows LayerZero's public apology for mishandling communications around a recent exploit.

The trigger was damaging: LayerZero's team admitted their internal RPC was compromised by the Lazarus Group, North Korea's state-linked hacking unit, and disclosed a 1/1 DVN misconfiguration that left the protocol with a critical single point of failure. That combination — a nation-state attacker and a self-inflicted architectural flaw — is exactly the kind of dual failure that erodes institutional trust fast.
